Managing Director / Actuary
Saroja Gunatilleke is a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries, UK (qualified in year 2012) with approximately 14 Years of Actuarial, Risk Management, Regulatory and Insurance Experience.
She has a M.Sc. Actuarial Science, Graduate Diploma Actuarial Science and a B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics from UK Universities for all of which have obtained a First Class/ Distinction Pass. During her 2nd Year of Undergraduate Studies, Saroja obtained best results out of students following Mathematics with Management.
Her Work Experience is in a wide range of areas including Reserving, SLFRS4, Pricing & Product Development, Risk Based Capital, Investments & ALM, Profitability of Products, Regulatory Compliance, Developing Standardized Process / Compliance Documents and Risk Management.
Key Roles includes being the Company Actuary of Ceylinco Life, the Life Insurance Market Leader in Sri Lanka and the Consultant Actuary (handling the Actuarial Function overlooking both Life Insurance and General Insurance) at the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.
She is the Great Granddaughter of Sir Ernst De Silva (Founder Chairman of Bank of Ceylon), Granddaughter of Mr. U. N. Gunasekera (Civil Engineer who formed his own Construction Firm at the Age of 29 and went on to build the first 5 Star Hotel in Sri Lanka) and Daughter of Dr. Srimani Gunatilleke (MD Glass House Diagnostic Laboratory).
